What is Theravada Buddhism?

Theravada means "School of the Elders". After the death of the Buddha different schools emerged with their own interpretation of the Dhamma. The foundation remained the same (the four Noble Truths) but with different forms of practice and points of focus.
Theravada is the oldest surviving form of Buddhism and has been practiced to this day in South Asia: Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
Ehipassiko is grounded in this school.
